Removing trip hazards from a commercial pedestrian route
Nuvo Services completed external paving repairs at a commercial site in Coventry where approximately 180 slabs had become uneven and were creating trip hazards. Once the affected paving was uplifted, root growth beneath the slabs was identified as a cause of the movement.
Uplift, preparation and reinstatement
The affected slabs were carefully uplifted to expose the substrate. Roots and obstructions beneath the paving were removed, the base was prepared and levelled, and the slabs were re-bedded to provide a more even walking surface. Reusing suitable existing slabs also allowed the repaired route to remain visually consistent with the surrounding paving.
A safer, more serviceable external area
The completed works removed the local level differences that had been contributing to the trip risk and reinstated the pedestrian route on an even surface. External access routes are a common maintenance issue for commercial estates, particularly where tree roots, settlement or repeated traffic cause slabs and paving to move over time.
